Blanchfield Downed with Shoulder Knock

Thursday, October 6, 2022
Perth Wildcats veteran Todd Blanchfield looks to have been bit by the injury bug
Perth Wildcats veteran Todd Blanchfield has suffered a possible shoulder injury at training on Tuesday.
Blanchfield missed five games in NBL22 due to a persistent knee injury, and punched a wall in frustration as he left the court in the hands of trainers yesterday.
He started in Perth’s round one clash against Brisbane over the weekend where he scored six points.
Wildcats captain Jesse Wagstaff says he’s reserving judgement on the severity of his teammate's apparent injury.
“I have no idea what he (Blanchfield) did,” Wagstaff told the West Australian.
“We’ll have to wait on the medicos to sort that out.
“Injuries are a part of sport. When ‘Norto’ (Mitch Norton) went down in pre-season I thought his season was over, and he returned 10 days later to play the first game.
“Any time you lose anyone, not just Todd, is bad. It’s a team game and every person on this team and roster plays an important part.”
“Often the initial frustration is worse than the actual injury.
After winning their opening round clash with Brisbane. the Wildcats’ season continues with a double-header this weekend.
First they host Illawarra on Saturday, October 8. They then travel to Cairns to play the Taipans on Monday, October 10.
