Armstrong set to return

Cairns Taipans star point guard Taran Armstrong is set to make his return from a back complaint this Saturday against the New Zealand Breakers.

Armstrong missed Cairns’ upset victories over Illawarra and Perth with the back issue, but coach Adam Forde has said the highly talented Australian guard will be inserted back into the starting line-up to end the season.

“Taran was ruled out on the weekend because of a bad back, he should be cleared, he got through today, he will start this weekend and finish out the season as our starting point guard,” Forde said via Newscorp.

Armstrong is averaging 16.9 points, 4.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds this season, as his NBA interest has grown throughout the campaign.

The Taipans face the Breakers on Saturday at 5:30pm AEDT live on ESPN.
