Adnam makes NBL return with former club

Wednesday, January 17, 2024
NBL veteran and former champion Kyle Adnam has signed with the Illawarra Hawks as a nominated replacement player.
The Illawarra Hawks have bolstered their roster ahead of their Finals push, with the signing of NBL veteran Kyle Adnam as a Nominated Replacement Player (NRP).
An NRP is eligible to train full-time with the club they have signed on with, but they can only be elevated to the active roster if another player is injured.
Adnam has signed with the Hawks off the back of a strong NZNBL season with the Wellington Saints and a stint with Romanian side CSU Sibiu.
It marks a return to the Hawks for Adnam, who turned out for the side six times in the 2014-2015 NBL season.
He also won a title with Melbourne United in 2018 and spent time as co-captain of the South East Melbourne Phoenix during his 200-game NBL career. Adnam has played with the Adelaide 36ers and Sydney Kings.
The Boomers representative has labelled his return to the Hawks as a "full circle moment", and says he is "excited to be back in Illawarra".
The Hawks have cited fan favourite Dan Grida's recent injury troubles as a key component of Adnam's signing.
Illawarra will next play Cairns on Thursday at 7:30pm AEDT, live on ESPN via Kayo.
